Lilly and Veronica kissed exactly twice. The first time was in the limo, Homecoming night, with Logan and Duncan watching. The second time, they were alone in Lilly’s room with no one to scrutinize or observe.
Both times Lilly tasted like bubblegum and sex.
The day she was killed, when Lilly told Veronica she had a secret, Veronica thought, “I have a secret, too. I’m in love with you.”
Veronica never got to find out if Lilly’s secret was the same. As if Lilly’s death wasn’t enough to cry about.
At the funeral, Veronica licked her lips. Bubblegum and tears.
