Forgotten Things by Amberina
He came to her during the summer, he had heard about her - she not sure how, but he seemed to know everything about her.
She'd heard of him, of course. She knew all about Wolfram and Hart, and all of their former employees. She knew all about Lindsey and his sudden change of heart. His sudden turn away from the dark side, due in large part to a huge unrequited crush he had for Angel - none other than the new boss at Wolfram and Hart's Los Angeles branch.
He told her things she didn't know, about himself, and about the world. He taught her about things she hadn't even dreamed existed - not the supernatural, no she had known that existed for a while now - but about pure lust and unrepentant evil.
She wasn't sure why he had this new change of heart, why he sought her out, why he was suddenly not-so-good again. She asked, but he never gave a clear answer, so she let it rest. It didn't matter anyway, all that mattered was him touching her, and the fact that they were taking on the world's biggest evil and the world's stupidest superheroes all at the same time.
It was incredibly romantic to her, incredibly exciting. She grew up in a small town with big dreams, but she never dreamed of this, never dreamed things would be so amazing for her.
Eve's twenty-four, and she has a killer job, a wonderful man, and she's feeling as if she's on top of the world. As if she can do anything, be anything, take anything, fuck with anything she wants.
Lindsey's taught her a lot, but he simply forgot to teach her that trusting him, or anyone else, is a bad idea. That everyone, including him, is mainly out for themselves. That she shouldn't expect him to stay with her forever, that simply isn't his style.
But Eve's oblivious to these things, these things that Lindsey considers obvious. Because it's all so romantic, and dangerous, and she has a perpetual adrenaline rush, "Crazy in Love" stuck in her head, and Manolo Blahniks on her feet. Things are perfect.
Things will stay perfect. Until everything falls down around her, her world caves in, and she's left bloody and broken with nothing to call her own.
But Eve doesn't know about that, not yet. Lindsey forgot to tell her.
